Padrón is the town of the green pimientos and of the pedrón, the stone in the church where, according to legend, the apostle’s boat moored. You arrive feeling content. This was a friendly day.
From Caldas de Reis you walk for around five hours through rolling Galician countryside. The ups and downs are manageable, and your legs get a chance to catch their breath. It does get busier, though, because here the route merges with the Caminho Português Central. Same road, same albergues. That means more pilgrims and more stories around the table. Padrón has a public albergue. Eat something green tonight, sleep well, tomorrow is the big day.
