About this site

From a pilgrim, for pilgrims

I'm Ronald, and I've walked a good many Caminos myself. If you've done the same, you'll know how it goes: you walk all day, and in the evening you're sitting on your bed in the albergue with your phone, looking up tomorrow's stage.

I was looking for a simple app, without any unnecessary information. Of course, there are good apps that help you walk a Camino. The quality of the Gronze app, for example, is high, and I'd definitely encourage you to keep using it too. It's just that it can sometimes take a lot of searching, and that should be easier. In the end, I decided to build one myself.

This site does what I needed myself along the way:

  • for each stage, the distance, the elevation profile and the steep sections;
  • the weather for the next two days, with sunrise and sunset;
  • a map of the route;
  • where you can stay, with the address, phone number and directions to get there.

You don't need an account or an app, and everything works on your phone, in eight languages.

The data comes from open sources, such as OpenStreetMap, where volunteers map the world. That fits with the Camino: along the way, you help each other. If something isn't right about an albergue, please let us know. That way the next pilgrim will benefit too.

Buen Camino.

A café con leche

This site is free, with no adverts and no account needed. I build it in my spare time and really enjoy doing it, but maps, weather data and the server do cost money.

Has Pilgrimways helped you along the way? Then I'd love it if you treated me to a café con leche. ☕ It helps keep the site free for the next pilgrim.

How the hosting costs of this site are paid

I make this site in my spare time, and I like to keep it free and ad-free, as a pilgrim for pilgrims. To cover the costs, some booking links are affiliate links, through our partner Stay22. If you book a stay through one of these links, I receive a small commission from the provider. Nothing changes for you: you pay the same price.

That commission has no influence on what you see here. The hostels in the lists come from OpenStreetMap. Municipal albergues and donativo albergues, which earn nobody anything, are listed just as readily as hotels. No hostel pays to be on this site.

Your data

If you click on a booking link, Stay22 may record that your booking came via this site. This only happens if you have given your consent in the cookie notice. In addition, your browser fetches maps from OpenStreetMap, the weather from Open-Meteo and some photos from Wikimedia Commons. You can read exactly how this works and what your rights are in the privacy statement.

Is everything correct?

I do my best to keep everything accurate and up to date, but albergues close, prices change and paths get rerouted. If in doubt, give the albergue a quick call before you walk there. You walk the Camino at your own risk. I am not liable for errors or outdated information on this site.
