This day doesn’t ask much of you. Take it at a relaxed pace, allow a good five hours, and keep an eye on the sun and the wind. The climbs and descents are short and nowhere really tough.
From Oia you walk along the coast, with the Atlantic Ocean in view almost all day. The path moves between beaches, small villages and quiet lanes. The climbing takes care of itself, so you have plenty of room to look around and chat.
Towards the end, Baiona comes into view as a friendly harbour town, with the old fortress walls of Monterreal right by the water. The town is known for Columbus’s Pinta, which returned here with the news of America. Once you’ve arrived, take a stroll down to the harbour.
Enjoy it. The Camino doesn’t give you days like this very often.
