You leave Redondela behind you with the last of the houses and a quiet village road. From here you walk alongside the pilgrims of the Caminho Português Central: the same route, the same albergues. The path becomes more sociable, and suddenly you hear other languages.
It’s a light stage. You climb and descend, but nowhere is it really tough. At almost six hours of walking, there’s plenty of time for a coffee along the way. In Pontevedra the Variante Espiritual branches off, via Armenteira and Vilanova de Arousa. If you want to walk that route, this is where you turn off. What will stay with you from the day: woodland paths, small villages and the deep green of Galicia.
