Your legs are happy today, but your head needs a little longer to catch up. The first kilometres out of Vigo feel stiff: tarmac, traffic lights, the noise of the city. Then the racket fades and the path turns into the hills and woods.
The climbing isn’t bad. It’s an easy day of just over four hours, with more downhill than up. You’ll feel that in your knees later. In Redondela your coastal route joins the Caminho Português Central, so the path will get busier from here.
At the end you drop down into Redondela, beside the water of the bay. High above the houses run the great railway viaducts. Stroll into the centre, find a café terrace and let your rucksack slip off your shoulders.
