A hórreo on stilts among the maize, cows in the meadow, and behind you the white houses of Luarca slowly growing smaller. That’s how the day begins.
It never gets very high, but it is long. Almost 30 kilometres, with climbs and descents almost without a break. Up a hill, down into a valley, and then again. After a while you feel it in your legs. Allow a good 8 hours of walking, so pace yourself. In La Caridad there is a public albergue. It’s a welcome prospect when the last kilometres start to drag. Take your time, the kilometres will come.
