Almost 28 kilometres, and after the first hour you already know: this is no gentle stroll. From Castilblanco you head into the hills of the Sierra Norte. Up, down, and up again. Holm oaks and open pasture take turns, and there’s little to protect you from the sun or the wind.
It’s the sum of it all that counts. You’ll climb well over 500 metres, spread across the whole day, and you’ll only really feel it in the afternoon. Eat on time along the way and take your breaks, even if you still feel fit. Once the last hill is behind you, you walk into Almadén de la Plata. The first houses, a quiet street, and at last you can take your rucksack off.
