You leave Vila do Conde behind and the town slowly gives way to open coastline. The path stays close to the Atlantic Ocean. You smell the salt, feel the wind and see a horizon that keeps growing wider.
There’s hardly any climbing or descending today, because the terrain is almost completely flat. Even so, this is no stroll. The distance counts, and your feet will feel the hours. At the end you arrive in Esposende, a coastal town at the mouth of the Cávado. It’s flat, so the six hours will be felt in your feet, not in your calves. Plan your breaks in good time, before your feet start asking for them.
