Viseu is the official starting point of the Caminho Português Interior. The fact that you arrive with tired legs already says plenty about the way there. The approach isn’t an official part of the route, but it is widely walked. After today, you’ll know why.
Looking back, it was a long trek. Over 8 hours on the road, with over 500 metres of climbing spread across the whole day. You feel it mostly in the second half. Pace yourself and take time for breaks. The descents are gentle, but your knees will still have an opinion. What you’re left with: woods, fields and small villages, and behind you the hills slowly sinking away in the late light.
