The Pyrenees are behind you, and you feel it straight away. From Zubiri you follow the Arga for much of the day, along forest paths and through small villages. The route rolls gently up and down, with more descending than climbing. Your legs get a bit of a breather.
In the last few kilometres the scenery changes. The green gives way to suburbs and tarmac, which takes a little patience. In Pamplona, pilgrims from the Camino de Baztán join the route, so the path gets a bit more sociable. You cross an old bridge into the city, follow the city walls, and suddenly you’re among café terraces and narrow streets.
