Green pastures, cows behind low stone walls and the odd clump of eucalyptus. That’s what your day looks like once Santillana del Mar and its cobbled streets are behind you.
The route is beautiful. There are no real mountains, but you’ll be going up and down all day, and it adds up. Overall you descend more than you climb, so your legs can take it easy. Allow almost 7 hours of walking, breaks not included.
Comillas is a well-kept seaside town with stately villas, including Gaudí’s El Capricho. As you walk in past the first houses, you’ll see the sea glinting beyond the rooftops.
