This day is mostly about making a choice and having a little patience. It is gentle and undulating, with no real climb, but you will be on the road for almost six hours. A steady, easy rhythm is all you need.
At La Caridad the route splits. Via Tol it is about 21 kilometres, via the coast and Tapia de Casariego about 22. It makes little difference, so go with your gut feeling. If you want to keep the sea in view, you already know which one to take.
At Ribadeo you cross the ría by the long bridge. On the other side you walk into Galicia. Ribadeo has a public pilgrim albergue, handy if you don’t want to go much further after the bridge.
