Eucalyptus woods, green meadows and narrow lanes past scattered farmhouses. You leave the sea behind you and inland Galicia takes over. The landscape stays hilly, and you never walk on the flat for long.
The day builds. At first the climb is gentle, then come stretches where your legs really have to work. Climbing well over 500 metres isn’t extreme, but it tugs at you all day. The descents, in turn, ask for some care from your knees. Take your time, because you will be on the road for more than six hours.
Gondán is small and quiet. You walk into the hamlet, put down your rucksack and take off your boots. Nothing more needs to happen today.
