Green hills, small fields and villages that slowly merge into one another: that’s what the day from Felgueiras looks like. The path alternates between woods, stone walls and quiet lanes. It’s an easy stage, with a little more downhill than uphill. Almost 6 hours of walking, and your legs are treated kindly.
The climbs are short and you’ll be over them in no time. After that, you can simply keep walking and take in your surroundings. Guimarães announces itself with houses and roundabouts. Then suddenly you’re in the old centre, among narrow streets and little squares. The city is regarded as the birthplace of Portugal, and the castle sits proudly on its hill. Take your time over a drink on a terrace. Behind you, the green hill country fades away in the late light.
