This day is mostly hard on your knees. You start at the highest point, so the climb is minor. After that, you descend more than 900 metres, sometimes steeply and often on hard surfaces.
First you walk up to the Alto de San Roque, where the pilgrim statue leans into the wind. When the weather is clear, you can see far across the hills. In mist, you see very little and mostly hear your own footsteps. Then come small hamlets, meadows and chestnut trees. Your pace naturally slows. Triacastela lies down in the valley, and you feel it when you arrive. There is a public albergue, so you can decide on the spot whether to stop here.
