You walk into Ourense and it feels like a small victory. The last stage is done. After almost 7 hours of walking from Allariz, you’re looking for a terrace, a chair and something cold to drink. You’ve earned it.
The day was of moderate difficulty, but kind in its shape. First you climb to the highest point, then it’s mostly downhill, almost 600 metres in total. It’s pleasant walking, though your knees will notice it. After the quiet Galician villages, the bustle of Ourense takes a bit of getting used to. Here you join the Camino Sanabrés, the way on to Santiago. Behind you lie the green hills; ahead of you opens the valley of the Miño.
