You leave Xunqueira de Ambía the way you arrived: calmly, without hurry. The Camino starts gently and, for the most part, stays that way. There’s hardly any climbing, but plenty of descending: well over 550 metres down.
That doesn’t make it a stroll, though. You’ll be on the move for more than six hours, and long descents put your toes and knees to work. So take it easy. At the end, Ourense awaits, a city known for its hot springs. That’s perfect timing for tired legs. As you approach the city, the green Galician countryside opens out towards the broad valley of the Miño.
