This day is mostly about patience. You walk for well over six hours, but it isn’t steep. The route rolls gently up and down, and overall you descend more than you climb. Your legs will barely notice, but your feet certainly will.
The landscape is wide and open: fields, olive trees and plenty of sky. Shade is scarce. The path often stretches out ahead of you for miles. That’s either soothing or endless, depending on your mood and the sun.
Zafra makes up for it. You arrive in a town with a castle and lovely squares where you’ll happily linger. Put down your rucksack, kick off your shoes, and then have a wander around. It’s worth it.
