First a few more vines, then mostly fields of grain all the way to the horizon. The sky is huge and shade is rare. The path is almost flat, with the occasional long, gentle rise. On balance, you actually descend.
Still, this is a long day: around 32 kilometres. It’s not the little climbs that wear you down, but the repetition. The same view, hour after hour, and your feet feel every step. Pace yourself and take more breaks than you think you need.
At the end, Zamora lies waiting on the Duero. Old stone, Romanesque churches and a town that welcomes you with open arms. Treat yourself to something tasty and sleep well tonight.
