Sand crunches under your shoes and the wind blows straight in off the sea. That’s how the day begins: from Odeceixe along the little river to the beach, and then up onto the cliffs.
It’s about 23 kilometres along the coast, with short climbs and descents. There are no real monsters among them. Even so, it’s the soft sandy stretches that make your legs feel you’re on the move. On top of the cliffs the views are endless and there’s little shelter. Later the path bends inland and leaves the sea behind you. You walk into Aljezur from the quiet side, without a busy coastal road. Take your time over the sandy stretches and the rest will follow by itself.
