It’s an easy day, but it doesn’t all come by itself. You’re on the move for almost five hours, and the climbs are short but they keep coming. Not a great ordeal, just a day when you need to find your rhythm.
Leaving Aljezur, with its ruined castle above the village, you leave the quiet valley behind and head towards the coast. The path winds over hills and through sand. You feel the ocean before you see it. Then the landscape opens up and suddenly there are cliffs right in front of you. Arrifana lies in a small bay, with surfers in the water and a beach below you. You arrive with time to spare.
Take your shoes off and let the ocean do the rest.
