You’re standing on the Praza do Obradoiro, rucksack still on your shoulders, with the cathedral towering above you. This is where you’ve been heading all these days. Let it sink in for a moment.
The day began in Padrón and is an average stage of about 24 kilometres. There are a few short climbs, but nothing that will trouble you after all this time on the road. The landscape gradually gets busier: villages and woodland give way to suburbs and traffic. At around seven hours of walking, it’s a full day. In high season, from May to September inclusive, book your bed in Santiago in advance, even if you’ve slept without a reservation so far. That way, all that’s left to do is enjoy it. Enjoy those last few metres, pilgrim. You’ve earned them.
