First you leave the city behind, then Galicia takes over: woodland paths lined with eucalyptus, small villages and green fields. It’s an undulating day without any real climb. You go up and down about the same amount, and you barely notice it.
From Pontevedra you walk together with the Caminho Português Central. Same route, same albergues, and suddenly a lot more pilgrims around you. That makes for a sociable pace. After a good 5 hours of walking, you have the afternoon to yourself. Caldas de Reis is known for its hot springs, which suits an easy day like this one. Santiago is now getting really close. Take your time today, you’ve earned it.
