Mist hangs over the meadows as you leave Baamonde, and the first cows watch you go. It’s a short, fairly peaceful day through rolling Galician countryside. There’s a bit of climbing and descending, but nothing that will throw you off your rhythm. Just over four hours of walking, no more.
This is where the way to Sobrado splits. Via As Cruces you walk around 32 kilometres in a single day, via Miraz about 40. This itinerary chooses Miraz and cuts that long day in two. You arrive at the albergue run by the British Confraternity of Saint James, a well-known address among pilgrims. Rucksack down, boots off. The rest of the afternoon is yours.
