Lugo sets the tone for the day. You leave a city with a Roman wall around it, and within an hour you’re walking between meadows and little woods. The noise of the city stays behind you. What’s left is Galicia just as you imagine it: narrow paths, stone walls, a farmhouse here and there.
The stage isn’t hard, but it is long. You climb and descend a little all day, with a highest point of well over 600 metres. It’s not a real monster of a climb, but enough to make you feel your legs. Because of the distance you’ll be walking for almost 8 hours, so take your time and eat at regular intervals. A Ponte Ferreira is small and quiet, a pleasant place to end the day. Step by step, you’ll get there.
