In Melide the Primitivo joins the Camino Francés. You notice straight away: more rucksacks, more voices, pilgrims with still-clean boots. After days of relative quiet, it takes a bit of getting used to.
Looking back, it was a kind day. Almost six hours of walking along paths and country lanes, through woodland and past meadows, with more descents than climbs. Your legs get a chance to recover. So does your mind. It’s the sort of stage where you find your rhythm without any effort and forget for a while that you were tired.
Melide itself is famous for its pulpo. If you fancy some, you’re in the right place. Enjoy the last quiet kilometres; the crowds will come soon enough.
