A dog barks behind a stone wall, and somewhere a cow lows. That’s how you leave Puebla de Sanabria and head into the hills. The first few hours are still easy going, but the day builds. You climb to well over 1,300 metres, and you’ll feel it in your legs.
It’s a long day, almost 9 hours on the road. Eat along the way and save some energy for the last stretch. The villages are small and quiet, and the landscape feels vast. In Lubián, a public albergue is waiting for you. Rucksack down, boots off.
Walk at your own pace. Lubián isn’t going anywhere.
