Your legs will hardly notice today. The day feels light, and you can let your mind wander. Just after Redondela you have one short, steady climb. After that it’s mostly rolling terrain, with forest paths, villages and the occasional stretch of tarmac. Nothing to worry about.
Along the way you pass through Arcade, known for its oysters, and cross the old bridge at Ponte Sampaio. With almost six hours of walking, there’s plenty of time for coffee.
Pontevedra announces itself with busier traffic. Then you cross the old bridge and walk into the historic centre: stone squares, café terraces, hardly any cars. Rucksack off, shoes off. A drink on one of those squares is the only thing left to plan.
