You leave Pontevedra over the old bridge across the Lérez, and just like that the city is behind you. Streets turn into lanes, and houses give way to vegetable plots and woodland. It’s quiet, apart from a few early walkers.
This is an easy day. The route is gently rolling, with no climbs that you’ll really feel. At almost 6 hours of walking, you have plenty of time for a long coffee stop. Caldas de Reis owes its name to its hot springs, and with that thought in mind you can enjoy the final stretch. You enter the town by the river Umia. Before that, you walk for a long time beneath tall eucalyptus trees, where the path is strewn with bark and the air smells of the forest.
