You leave Sernancelhe behind while the town is still half asleep. A few streets, one last look at the old houses, and then the landscape closes in around you. The first kilometres are quiet. All you hear is the sound of your poles and the occasional dog.
It is an easy stage, but not a flat one. You climb a good 400 metres in small stretches, and overall you descend slightly more than you climb. Your rhythm comes naturally. With almost six hours of walking, you have time for a long coffee stop. Moimenta da Beira comes slowly into view, without any fuss. There is a public pilgrim albergue, so you can stroll into town without any rush. On the last stretch you walk past stone walls and fields, with hills that soften in the afternoon sun.
