You leave Padrón with a strange feeling. This is the last morning, your legs know the routine and your head isn’t ready to arrive yet. From here you share the way with the pilgrims on the Caminho Português Central. So it gets busier, and you’ll run into the same albergues.
It’s about 23 kilometres, hilly, with just enough climbing and descending to make your legs work one last time. First you walk through woodland and past fields. Later the houses and the tarmac creep closer and closer. In Santiago you follow the arrows through the old town until you’re standing on the Praza do Obradoiro, right in front of the cathedral. Rucksack off, lie back on the stones, look up.
