Eucalyptus and pine, forest paths, meadows and small villages. That’s what your last day looks like. It’s a quiet stage, gently rolling, with just a few short climbs. From here on you’re walking the same route as the pilgrims on the Camino Francés, so it gets busier. That’s all part of it.
As Santiago gets closer, the landscape becomes more built-up. You pass the airport, cross the hill of Monte do Gozo and wind your way through the suburbs. Only at the very end does the path give way to pavement and cobblestones. You make your way through the old town and arrive at the square in front of the cathedral. Just stand there for a moment. If you then look back, you’ll see the green hills of Galicia in the distance, where you’ve come from.
