Early in the morning, the mist still hangs between the oaks and the stone walls. The path winds past meadows and through tiny hamlets, with the odd cow calmly watching you go by.
It’s a long day, but not a cruel one. You climb a few times, the highest point comes somewhere in the middle, and after that you keep dropping further and further down. That’s good for your energy, less good for your knees.
Something nice happens in A Laxe. This is where the Camino de Invierno joins in, and suddenly you’re walking the same route with new faces. It gets a bit busier and more sociable. At around 8 hours on the clock, you’ll reach Silleda in the late afternoon. It’s best to book a bed in advance, so you don’t have to go searching.
