The distance looks modest, but your legs won’t be spared today. You leave Amarante and the Tâmega behind you, and it isn’t long before the path heads uphill. You climb around 360 metres within five kilometres. It’s steep, and it keeps going for a while. Find your own pace and don’t hesitate to stop if you run out of breath.
After that, things get more varied. The path goes up and down, and the descents in particular will let your knees know they’re along for the ride. This is a day to take it easy. You’ll walk into Felgueiras with heavy legs and a contented mind. Rucksack off, boots off, and then a drink on a terrace first.
